Information by Type of Parking

As part of the BART Board-directed initiative to encourage Transit Oriented Development (TOD) on station surface parking lots, the new Gateway at Millbrae Station mixed-use development will begin construction in fall 2019 and complete in 2022.

Over the course of approximately the first 6 months, all the surface parking lots will close for construction. Please see below for information on how you will be affected based on your parking payment method. Visit this website for project updates.

Monthly Permit Holders

Current Monthly Permit holders will continue to have dedicated “Permit” parking areas at the station that are set aside for permit holders until 10am each day. However, as surface parking areas close, there will be fewer over-all parking spaces available, which may mean that more daily parkers will take spots soon after 10am). Permit holders should make sure to arrive at the station before 10am.

Long-term/Airport Permit Holders

Because the overall number of spaces will be reduced at the station, we will severely limit (possibly eliminate) the number of Long-term/Airport permits we issue. Customers will need to find alternate Airport parking locations/means of access to the airport.

Single-day Reserved Permit Holders

Because the overall number of spaces will be reduced at the station, we will severely limit (possibly eliminate) the number of Single-day permits we issue.

EZ Rider Daily Fee Parkers

Customers may continue to use EZ Rider to pay for their Daily Fee parking by tagging the Parking Validation Machine with their linked Clipper card in the paid area of the station. Sign up here. However, as surface parking is closed, there will be more competition for the remaining parking spaces so customers should look at alternative modes to access the station or plan on arriving at the station earlier in the day.

Cash/BART Ticket Daily Fee Parkers

Customers may continue to use cash or a BART Ticket to pay for their Daily Fee parking at the Parking Validation Machine in the paid area of the station. However, as surface parking is closed, there will be more competition for the remaining parking spaces so customers should look at alternative modes to access the station or plan on arriving at the station earlier in the day.

There will be a list of suggestions for other ways to access the station, as well as project updates at this website.
